 In late 2006, at age 32, I decided to embark on an MBA program. I was filled with both expectations and fears. I reviewed all the available options and chose IAE’s EMBA Program, as I felt it related to me with its practical, student-centered approach that appealed more to me than other, more theoretically oriented offerings –though I must admit, back then, I didn’t really know how I was going to learn at all with the case method.
As months went by, with all the subjects and exams, I came to realize that I was learning a lot more than I had bargained for. I was able to understand and truly appreciate the value of different viewpoints; I found that it was true that teamwork is a lot more than the sum of individual efforts; I became aware of my style and learned how to decipher and value the styles of others, among other things.
I cannot compare this program to others, as I only attended this one, and I don’t really know whether the experience and growth I accomplished at IAE are superior to those I would have had somewhere else. However, I do know that my expectations and goals were greatly exceeded on account of IAE’s faculty, the case method, my classmates and the school’s entire staff, who did their best to turn this program into a life-changing experience.

I enrolled at IAE’s EMBA Program with the overriding intention to acquire a vast body of knowledge on business management, and IAE lived up to my expectations. I learned a lot about finances, marketing, costs, accounting, human resources, and so on. However, I learned something much more important. I learned that a business company is mucho more than the sum of technical knowledge or a good product. A company needs values, a vision, a mission, a common goal, and respect for employees, suppliers, customers and society at large. In short, at the EMBA Program, I acquired many tangible and intangible tools that will help me handle true managerial issues.
