International Relations

IAE’s vision to build a bridge linking Latin America and the globalized world reflects on its every activity. In a nutshell, we would like to highlight the following key facts:

Programs

MBAs: Year after year, the number of class participants joining IAE programs from abroad grow –particularly from other Latin American countries, but also from other continents. In 1999, the first IAE MBA edition, 9% of students were foreigners, while, today, students from other countries account for 60% of our classes. Also, regardless of their nationality, 45% of the professionals attending an MBA Program IAE today have worked abroad.
Additionally, IAE’s MBAs feature exchange programs with over 10 leading Business Schools (Darden, London Business School, IPADE, IESE, Anderson UCLA, Texas Austin, NYU, and others). Thus, students are able to spend a quarter at another institution. In 1999, only three foreign students came to IAE. The last year, this number rose to 25.

EMBA: IAE’s Executive MBA also features a Global Immersion Program, which involves a two-week tour around the United States, visiting Business Schools, government agencies and business companies. Also, an increasing number of foreign institutions have chosen IAE for their own GIPs. Thus, in 2004, five visiting schools arrived at IAE. This year, students from 12 organizations are scheduled to visit our campus, including Darden, Wharton, London Business School and UCLA.

Why do they choose IAE?
“In general,” says Professor Patricio Fay, “they come on account of IAE’s growing significance in our region, because the Argentine market has become a sound lab for crisis management learning, and because of Buenos Aires’ appeal”.

IAE’s new EMBA XV, with classes delivered on three consecutive days every three weeks, enables professionals from other Argentine provinces and from neighboring countries to attend. The same applies to IAE’s Intensive PDD Program.

Executive Programs: For several years now, joint international programs are delivered with IESE, Harvard and other Latin American schools.

In addition, In-Company programs are designed for and delivered to business companies throughout the region, gathering executives from around Latin America. These programs are held in Buenos Aires or in other cities around the world, involving companies such as Coca-Cola, Exxon, Merck, Repsol-YPF, and many others.

Professors and Rankings:
IAE’s faculty involvement in international conferences, publications and joint research efforts relating to their specific areas of academic expertise also drives IAE to cross country and continental borders. Just to name a few, IAE professors have participated at GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor), a joint research project with Babson College and the London Business School; they are also involved at LAHRP (Latin American Human Resources Partnership), a consortium gathering leading businesses operating in Latin America, University of Michigan’s Business School and IAE.

  • The increasing number of IAE professors who have completed their Ph.D. programs abroad also adds to the School’s global dimension. In 2002-2004, six IAE professors returned to Argentina after successfully pursuing their Ph.D. degrees. Eight more will return this year, followed by two more in 2007.
  • As to international rankings, IAE has ranked among the world’s top 30 Business Schools for nine consecutive years at the Financial Times Executive Education Ranking. IAE also joins the leading business schools around the world ranked by Business Week and America Economia.
